Quality behind the wheel

With summer vacations coming to an end and Labor Day coming up soon, lots of us will be on the road. While you may be thinking about quality on the job, did you ever consider the quality of your driving?

The D’Ardenne Associates team spends a lot of time on the road but we never takes our eyes off of it. We use Bluetooth connectivity to talk while driving – hands firmly planted on steering wheel.

Companies with commercial truck drivers face loss of life, injury and significant lawsuits if they don’t address this issue. This in itself is a quality lapse with deadly consequences. According to the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, texting and driving increases the risk of crashing or nearly crashing by 23 times among truck drivers. And automobile accidents are the leading cause for work-related deaths, accounting for 24 percent of all fatal occupational injuries.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Agency estimates 6,000 deaths and 500,000 injuries annually caused by cell phone use behind the wheel. Don’t be a statistic. Be safe behind the wheel. It could be your most important quality initiative.

Please see and then share this very compelling public service announcement by Volkswagen.

It really puts the problem in a scary light. Stay safe out there!
