Welcome!

In this era of volatile stock markets, credit downgrades and high debt, it's good to know that management system standards based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) stand the test of time. By adopting ISO standards, companies have demonstrated greater efficiencies and world-class standards in productivity and profit. Who couldn't use that right now?

ISO Spotlight: Environmental Management

Hazardous Waste Management ISO 14000 is the set of environmental management standards organizations use to minimize how their processes and operations negatively affect the environment, comply with laws and regulations, and continually improve.

ISO 14001:2004 TPECS, offered by D´Ardenne in September, specifies requirements for an environmental management system that enables an organization to develop and implement policies and objectives that take into account legal and other requirements.

Our courses focus on helping students gain a working understanding of key environmental management concepts, such as aspect and impact identification and setting objectives and targets. Courses include a two-day course on the basic concepts of the ISO 14001:2004 standard, a three-day course focusing on internal audits required for a quality management systems, and a four-day course to manage an audit program and report on audit results.

IT No Longer Part of ISO 20000

ISO 20000 has been completely revised so that it no longer specifically addresses information technology (IT). The standard is now focused squarely on the service industry sector, and the term IT has been eliminated from the standard. Look for training courses coming up in 2012.

From Our Blog

Bar graph Back in the early days of ISO, with the introduction of ISO 9001 in 1987, management system standards changed the way companies operate.

With the advent of its 2008 version, ISO now requires that companies demonstrate that the system is being used to add value to their organization.

In performing third-party certification audits and conducting training, we're seeing organizations that have implemented their system more than a decade ago but haven't been able to fully take advantage of ISO's ability to drive bottom-line improvements. Many companies haven't kept up with ISO's maturation and don't see how much more the newer standards can make a significant difference in their businesses.
