Rebecca Kates
General Overview
Rebecca Kates brings Six Sigma expertise to the D´Ardenne Associates team as part of a new joint venture with Adaptive Technologies, Inc. to help our clients improve productivity.
Under this unique arrangement, D´Ardenne taps into Becky's extensive experience in lean and Six Sigma methodologies. By driving top-line growth, improving quality, enhancing productivity and reducing expenses in the manufacturing and retail industries, Becky has saved companies between $400 million and $500 million in savings over her career.
Known as a change agent with a unique ability to build high-performance work teams and rally resources at all levels, in multiple plant and store locations in the United States and abroad, Becky trains employees at all levels how to improve productivity and achieve White Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt certification.
Her experience includes lean manufacturing, Six Sigma tools, cross-functional engagement, training and execution, project management and quality and customer focus. She especially enjoys showing how Six Sigma tools can make a difference with good business processes and decisions.
Becky is the quality manager at Adaptive Technologies, responsible for ISO 9001:2008 compliance at a research and development firm that designs integrated control systems. She also handles Six Sigma events and statistical analysis for the company.
Her impressive industry leadership includes serving as vice president of process improvement for Belk Store Services, Inc., responsible for starting a Six Sigma improvement culture at the multi-billion-dollar retailer.
She has also served as director of Six Sigma for Circuit City stores and director of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma quality at The Stanley Works. She's also led similar quality and productivity efforts at Mechanics Tools, GE Industrial Systems and General Motors.
Her equally impressive academic career includes serving as assistant professor of physics, mathematics and statistics at Roanoke College and as an adjunct instructor of statistics and mathematics at Radford University.
Education
Becky earned bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech. She's a Six Sigma Certified Black Belt.
