Sandy’s extensive experience includes strategic planning, teaching, consulting, systems administration, marketing and management. He has over 30 years of experience which meshes the business, educational, and governmental perspectives.
He holds an Ed.D from Virginia Tech in Education Administration with a concentration in strategic planning. He currently works in administration in Virginia Tech Athletic Department. In addition to being an educator and administrator, he owns his own business, Innovative Sports Marketing, which assists firms in developing marketing strategies for the sports environment. He also has served as the managing editor of the Sports Page for PE Central, a national web site.
Sandy taught and coached wrestling for many years at the scholastic and collegiate levels. He also served as the vice-president and General Manager of a minor league professional basketball franchise. He provided creative leadership that resulted in a championship season both on the court and in the box office. His ability to motivate others has given many young people the opportunity to achieve at their highest capacities.
As a platoon commander in Viet Nam and a battalion commander in Desert Storm, he distinguished himself in service to his country. He is currently a retired Lt. Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve.
He is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Phi Delta Kappa, the Marine Corps Reserve Officers Association, College Business Managers Association, and is currently Chairman of the Paciolan Software Users Association. He has presented at numerous conferences and has authored two books.
